Engagement Ring Question?

My ring gets stuck everywhere and i’m affraid that the arms that hold the diamond are going to move out of place and I dont want the diamond to get loose and fall. I love my ring and I dont want a different seting because it matches my wedding band. please advice on how to take care of this problem. My ring gets stuck on clothes, blanket, ect. Thanks for your answers.

Was a lifetime warrenty purchased on it? I have a ring that has one and I have lost stones in it twice, and also took it in to be resized and they felt the need to replace the entire ring bc it was so scratched. If this is the case with you, then you never have to worry, they will always fix it.

There is no way that the prongs will move unless they are moved with alot of force. I wear my ring all of the time and it has very long prongs that sit my diamond up higher than usual and I’ve only bent my prongs once and that was lifting dressers with gloves on while I was moving. If you take your ring off when you are doing things like that, you will be fine.

Take it to the jeweller where your guy bought it and the jeweller will be able to tighten the claws.

If you have a ring with 4 prongs then you need to go in and just have the head replaced to a six prong. Then if one moves or breaks off your stone will stay put, unlike a 4 prong. Also make sure your ring is insured under your homeowners policy so if it does break and the stone is lost it will be replaced at a small cost.

With engagement rings (or any rings in general), sometimes the prongs of the setting (especially on an higher set-setting) get stuck on miscellaneous things. Unfortunately, there is no way to solve this problem. What you can do, however, is insure your ring. If your ring is an especially high carat (1.0+), it would be a particular shame it that diamond fell out of loose prongs! If you insure your diamond, then you wouldn’t have to worry. Diamond insurance will automatically allow you to purchase a new diamond of equal value should anything happen to yours. It’s a very good investment. I must say, that the first few weeks of wearing my engagement ring, I couldn’t get over the fact that I had 18,000 on my hand- not including the setting! It was hilarious how much I worried about it. Now that I have the diamond insured, I don’t have to worry so much, and I feel much more at ease. In addition, you should take your ring yearly to a jeweler anyway. At this time, the jeweler will check for scratches, loose prongs, and polish it. Prongs that are loose enough to cause you to lose your diamons are extremely rare, so a yearly check-up with the ring doctor should be just fine. In the meantime, just wear some sunglasses to protect your eyes from your beautiful rock!

I had the same problem. The arms that were holding in my diamond did move and I freaked out but there really is nothing you can do, except everytime you notice them moving get them fixed. I also am now more cautious when I am going into my pockets or purse or basically doing anything that deals with my ring finger. Good luck!
