Will my gold/diamond ring be safe in the shower?

My wonderful boyfriend surprised me with a gorgeous betrothal ring (kind of an engagement ring jr.). It’s made of white gold and diamonds. I never take it off, except to cook with ground beef or to do clay crafts. He’s concerned that I might lose the diamonds in the shower. He thinks they may come loose and slip out. I know there are lots of women who never take off their wedding/engagement rings with diamonds in them. And I know that diamonds and gold are tough materials that can withstand a LOT. But this ring is the most precious object that I own, and I won’t take chances.

How many of you wear diamonds 24/7? Has anyone had one come loose?

It was made at Jared, if that’s an important detail.
No way did he get me a lower metal and claim it was gold! He’s a romantic. Besides, I’ve seen both the receipt (had to have it sized) and the mark on the band.

I wore mine in the shower and even to swim (in a pool,not the ocean, wouldnt want it falling off) and it was fine but it had a deeper setting. If you have a prong setting that could break, then you might want to reconsider. That would be my only concern, otherwise I’m sure it’d be fine.

I wear a diamond ring every single day and the diamonds never ever came off in the shower.
I don’t think you should worry too too much but if you are still
concerned,but a shower strainer thing in the drain.
So just in case one of the diamonds do come out it wouldnt go down the drain.

Congrats on you two.

I see no problem wearing it in the shower of bath. Just be careful, it might slip off. When you get out make sure you dry it. If it is fake metal( might not be) it will tarnish and get rusty so make sure that it is real!!!!

I think it would be safe to leave it on in the shower; I know my
mother has been doing that ever since she’s gotten it
34 years ago! There haven’t been any problems with the diamonds;
they’re still stuck on like glue.

However, the actual ring has slipped off her finger a few times and there have been a few
close calls when falling near the drain. Just make sure to buy
one of those plastic things that prevent hair from falling through
your drain. You place them over your shower strainer, but I’m
not sure what it is called. Anyway, good luck and don’t worry
too much about it. Your ring will be fine!

It depends if it is real gold or gold plated. If it were 14kt or more than you should be able to wear it all the time. You should have the prongs checked at least once a year, that is what makes diamonds fall out usually if the prongs are worn down. I have a very nice 14kt gold pear shaped diamond wedding ring. I only wear it when i go out. Remember household cleaners are bad for any jewelry. Never take it off when you are out anywhere. If you take care of your ring, it should last forever.You can clean it once a month with 1 tsp baking soda 2 drops dish soap 1 cup water. Bring to a boil on top of the stove boil for 5 minutes rinse and dry, it will look beautiful. First of all make sure the gold and diamonds are real. Take it to your jeweler and find out, but never leave it overnight unless you know the jeweler personally.
