I have a Bulldog, as well. With all the joint problems this breed has, it does not need to be on a puppy food at all. Yes, Chicken Soup is a good choice, but just put it on adult food. Make the change gradually. Why she was on a small breed puppy food to begin with, makes absolutely no sense. They are NOT a small breed, and a high protein food is not good in this case.

Add: To the Julie below me….she is not talking about actual chicken soup. There is a dog food called Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul.

I do not recommend giving your dog people food, but you may want to gradually Switch her to another puppy food for large breed dogs.

Change her food..it’s too rich for her. I feed my bulldog Kibbles n’ Bits (original flavor) with occasional tidbits from my leftovers mixed in. Mine has been in perfect health with no loose stools for the 2 years that I’ve had the pleasure of having her (she was abandoned as a puppy)

yes, change your dogs food gradually. In most cases it should change at 1yr but the dog will let you know when it’s ready to have its diet changed, by the constant pooing, its body needs the nutrition of an adult dogs food.
Not sure about chicken soup, never heard of anyone wanting to feed their dog that before, but to stop the pooing, give your dog chicken and rice for dinner until it stops. Then once a week is good for it.

Chicken Soup is a pretty good food.

I’d switch gradually, over a week or so.

Do 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food for a couple of days…

then do 50% / 50% for a couple of days

then 75% of the new food and 25% of the old….

We feed Wellness Puppy … my dog seems to be doing good on it (stool wise ;)). But I have not tried Chicken Soup…

Chicken Soup is a good AFFORDABLE food. So is Taste of the Wild.

Make the switch gradually.

BTW Kibbles and Bits is horrible food. Full of corn, fillers, by-products and crap.

well when ever you switch from one brand to another or from puppy to adult it takes 1-2 weeks what you have to do is give him half of each the old brand or formula and the new one for a full week or two. what my dog gets its Purina pro plan chicken and rice formula its a good brand you can get it anywhere. they make a puppy and an adult formula.

* Give your dog healthy snacks such as fruits and vegetables: apple slices, carrot sticks, orange segments, banana slices, and frozen vegetables are all canine favorites.
* Make sure what you buy is high in protein, not grain-based, and that it’s AAFCO-tested. The AAFCO, the American Association of Feed Control Officials, is a watchdog group that sets food-testing and labeling standards.

You should very gradually switch over to a different puppy food if shes having loose stools. Puppies poop alot but it should have a “shape” to it and not be constantly runny. I keep my bulldogs on puppy food untill they’re 6 months old and than gradually switch them to adult food. Bulldogs do not need the added protein the puppy food provides them. This is a quick way for them to get overweight; while bulldogs are not a slim breed they should not be grossly obeese. Chicken Soup is a great food to breed. I also fed small breed puppy food as it was easier for them to crunch on. Hope this helps!

I have an English Bulldog and I feed her California Natural lamb and rice. I have given her the adult food since she was about 9 months old. Bulldogs, unfortunately can have skin and allergy issues and this food promotes a healthy coat. I have had other bulldogs in the past and have found this food to be the best quality. When I got my dog the breeder sent her home with Science Diet and I had her on this for a week and she had horrible gas and very loose stools. Now she poops twice a day like clockwork and they are solid. Just add a lil of the new food for a week or so. Hope this helps.
