Need help with special cleaners?

robin r asked:

I have a platinum diamond engagement ring and matching band. I know most of the ways to keep the rings clean such as toothpaste, ammonia, regular jewelry cleaner…Do you have any other suggestions on how to keep my diamonds shiny and new??? I wear latex gloves for most of the day and i noticed the rings loose their shine after a while..aside from a good jewelry steamer what would you suggest i use??

well if you go to any jewelry store, most of them usually have this container of like…alcohol stuff with special chemicals to clean jewelry. and it works great. i use it for all of mine. you can also get it at claire’s or icing. just ask for jewelry cleaner.

You might use one of those hot steamers that they clean floors and crevices with. My sister works at a high end jewelry store. I can’t remember what the name of the cleaner was, but came in black jar. I have one that’s brand named Kay’s Jewelry Cleaner and it does a pretty decent job. I don’t know if something like WD 40 would work. They swear by it for lots of other uses including cleaning the shower sliding glass doors to keep it from getting water spots and soap film on it.

I don’t know what else is out there but I go to the jewelry store to get my diamond ring clean, as you know I have a platinum diamond also and my jewelry store would not tell me what they use.

you can get the store to clean it,and not wear it while you are using chemicals.
