well it is much better to get the set one already because u do not have to do anything with it. on the other hand, u have more choices for the loose one.

It depends on the setting. The price of gold has skyrocketed, so if there is a lot of gold in the setting, it will be a higher cost anyway. It also depends on whether you want something unique or mass produced.

Loose.
3 carat in the Islands… you better get it checked and graded. A nice 3 carat will cost $15,000-$20,000.

Hi
Yes it is cheaper to buy loose diamond and have it set, just make sure you bring it to a good jeweller. An added bonus is you can pick the ricg you want.

Usually the jeweler will set a loose diamond in a basic 14K gold mounting free of charge. It’s basically about a $150 - 200.00 value. I am sure that your friend got a great deal in the islands and she’ll still have saved quite a bit of money when she has the stone set. My recommendation is to have the stone set in 14K white gold and to be sure the mounting is substantial looking and relatively heavy. Be sure to request a written appraisal of the entire piece of jewelry and keep it in a safe place. I used to work in a jewelry store and our goldsmith mounted many, many loose stones that our customers brought in.

loose diamond is cheaper. i know from experience my family has been in the jewelry business for years and we are from sierra leone. but we are not the corrupt jewelers of the country. and while we are on the topic of diamonds and my country go out and watch blood diamonds. but yeah my daddy sells loose diamonds to jewelers all over the east coast mainly jewish people though.
