How can I find a loose diamond in gravel?

I would say get a shovel. Dig up all the gravel in the area you think you lost the diamond.

Put it in a bucket or wheelbarrow, and by hand, pick out all the large stones. Only pick them out one at a time.

Once you are down to dirt and small pebbles use a screen that is smaller than the size of the diamond to sift out all of the loose dirt, dust, and sand.

Now you should just have the tiny pebbles and the diamond.

Start looking.

It will be tough, finding a diamond in the rough.
I’m a poet and don’t know it.
Try a shop vac with a rag covering the hose.

Kinda like findin a needle in a haystack.Not a very easy task.Try having a child help you look,my mother said when i was young i would find everything in the carpet or every small thing that was lost.They have very good eyesight also.Good luck God bless:O)
